HI! I'M JEMMA SIEGEL.
I'M A SENIOR AT THE GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY STUDYING INDUSTRIAL DESIGN. I'M INTERESTED IN PHYSICAL PRODUCT DESIGN — I LIKE PROJECTS WHERE I CAN PUT MY SKILLS IN SKETCHING, IDEATING, PROTOTYPING, AND SHOP WORK INTO ACTION.
ON CAMPUS, I'M INVOLVED WITH PROFESSOR WAYNE LI'S DESIGN BLOC GROUP WHERE I TEACH DESIGN THINKING WORKSHOPS, AND ALSO 3484 MAGAZINE, TECH'S NEWS AND POLITICS PUBLICATION, WHERE I'M CREATIVE DIRECTOR.
I'VE JUST RETURNED FROM AN INTERNSHIP WITH PARTS AND LABOR DESIGN IN NEW YORK CITY WHERE I HELPED DESIGN CUSTOM FURNITURE AND FIXTURES FOR HIGH-END HOSPITALITY PROJECTS, PREPARED SPEC SHEETS FOR CLIENTS AND MANUFACTURERS, AND MANAGED THE DESIGN TEAM'S MATERIAL LIBRARY.
LAST FALL, I STUDIED AT VICTORIA UNIVERSITY IN WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND—HERE, I TOOK INDUSTRIAL AND SOFT-GOOD DESIGN COURSES. I ALSO HAD THE CHANCE TO WORK AT THE WAI-TE-ATA PRESS, WHERE I PRACTICED PHYSICAL TYPOGRAPHY WITH LEADED AND WOODBLOCK TYPE.
MY HOBBIES INCLUDE FILM PHOTOGRAPHY, LINOCUT PRINTING, BIKING, AND BACKPACKING. IN THE PAST, I'VE WORKED AS A STATE PARK RANGER AND PADDLE BOARD INSTRUCTOR, AND AM EAGERLY AWAITING THE DAY A DESIGN PROJECT NEEDS MY TRACTOR-RUNNING EXPERTISE.
